To Whom It May Concern,

With the highest professional regard, I recommend Michelle Bonaker for freshman placement at the Pepperdine University. I have had the pleasure of knowing Michelle as a member of my Advanced Placement English (12th grade) class this school year of 2008-2009 and Honors English (11th grade) class last year.

Academically, Michelle is an exceptionally gifted student that is deeply committed to pursuing higher level thinking skills. She has displayed continued mastery of critical thinking skills in difficult and rigorous reading and writing assignments in both my honors and AP English Literature and Composition courses. She shows initiative in coming in for one-on-one help when desired and handles constructive criticism quite maturely. I am thoroughly impressed with her ability to see multiple elements and perspectives in a given piece of literature. While in the full classroom setting, Michelle is an active listener and participant in class discussions. Equally, in small group activities, she initiates a leadership role when others will not step forward. She cares deeply about her ability to utilize her high school skills in a college environment. Overall, I find Michelle an intellectually motivated and insightful student.

Personally, Michelle is exceptionally mature, personable and earnest. She maintains diligence and motivation with a busy schedule inclusive of AP English, volleyball and church work. I find her to be a student who maintains a high degree of personal integrity. She has self-respect and sincere regard for others and their opinions. Likewise, the faculty and her own peers find her to be a delightful addition to their classrooms. I perceive that Michelle will be quite successful and transition without effort into the college environment.

Without hesitation, I highly recommend Michelle Bonaker. I perceive she will be a contributing member of the Pepperdine University.

Sincerely,
Jodeen L. Stark
Advanced Placement English Instructor
