What to do for the intro. of the research paper? – 3 parts: engaging opener (see writing notes), essential info. (quote title, full name of poet & rich/relevant bio. facts with citation(s)) & thesis (identify theme of poem; may want to include speaker & occasion here; if not, put speaker & occasion in first body para)
1st body para – begin with step 1 (lines/stanzas identified); then step 2 – (speaker & occasion – be detailed and specific here as to who, where, when, etc.); then step 3 (fig. devices identified and explained); START MARKING/ANNOTATING YOUR PRINT COPY OF YOUR POEM FOR THESE!!
Homework – keep searching online/electronic (no Wikipedia) sources and print sources for rich/relevant bio. & lit. criticisms on poem & poet; record facts and MLA biblio accurately on FACT SHEETS (will have to submit all fact sheets with final research paper to prove you wrote your own paper); see me if you need more fact sheets
